Melasma

Melasma is a skin condition characterized by brown or blue-gray patches, which are often called freckles. It's typically referred to as the "mask of pregnancy." Melasma usually happens because there’s too much production for cells that make your skin color and it can be harmless if treated right away.

Melasma Treatment

Melasma is a form of pigmentation which causes discolouration. It is generally seen on the face in the form of small brown coloured patches. It is more common at the time of pregnancy or during the course of taking birth control pills. In such case, Melasma fades away after pregnancy or after discontinuing the intake of birth control pills. It can also be caused by the direct exposure to the sun, genetic factors or due to hormonal change. Though, Melasma generally fade away easily but if it persists then you should consult a Dermatologist. In order to get permanent relief from Melasma you can get laser treatment as well which removes the dark coloured pigments and helps regaining your natural skin colour.

Melasma is a chronic skin disease caused by a mixture of genetic predisposition, hormones and sun exposure. It has a characteristic distribution over the cheeks, forehead and upper lip. It is essential to diagnose Melasma correctly since the treatment of Melasma is different from other types of skin pigmentation
